boots walkin’
Well I haven’t written any blogs yet about my travels around the country, but I was so inspired by my first day here in Nashville, TN that I just had to share some of it with you all!
I’m playing Mendelssohn tomorrow with the Symphony and we had a rehearsal today in the beautiful new hall. This morning I got up and went for a run to explore the town. I found myself on 2nd Ave. among dozens of Honky Tonk Bars, confederate souvenir flags, Elvis museums, and even a Dolly Parton impersonator ! I love all things kitschy, so this was right up my alley.
Between my meeting with the conductor, Kelly Corcoran, and when I was to play with the symphony at the end of the rehearsal, I had a couple more hours to spare.
First, I headed over to Past Perfect, a cute little cafe next to the river. I admired the bottles of homemade infused vodkas from cucumber and mint to mangos to hot peppers…oh my! I think I will have to try this at home.
Then I wondered back up Broadway and stumbled across a sign that read Buy one pair of boots, get two pairs free!!!! Well, for those of you that know me, this is a no brainer. After 40 minutes picking out my 3 pairs of cowboy boots from Music City itself, I walked out of that store a happy country girl. As a side note, the second I walked into the store a cowboy spotted me and said “You ain’t from around her, ain’t you, girl?” This definitely isn’t L.A., but I love it!
